Top 5 Bowlers with most Wickets in T20Is

5. Mustafizur Rahman:

At number five in this list is Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman. The left-arm pacer is one of the two Bangladesh bowlers in the list. Mustafizur Rahman has been one of the most effective pacers in the shortest format of the game in recent years. He has made a big impact not only in international cricket but franchise cricket as well especially in IPL.

Mustafizur made his debut in T20Is 2015 and soon became an indispensable part of the Bangladesh team. So far, he has played an impressive 103 T20Is for his national team and has picked up 128 wickets at an average of 21.32 and an economy-rate of less than 8. He has also picked up two five-wicket hauls in T20Is so far.

4. Ish Sodhi:

New Zealand leg-spinner Ish Sodhi is at the fourth spot in the list of most T20I wickets. The right-arm spinner has been plying his trade for New Zealand in the shortest format of the game since 2014. He has played 117 T20Is so far and has picked up 138 wickets at an average of 23 and an economy-rate of 7.99.

While Sodhi is yet to pick up a five-wicket haul in T20Is, he has three four-wicket hauls in the format. While Sodhi has been a regular in New Zealand’s T20I setup, he has struggled to cement his spot in the Test and ODI teams. So far, Sodhi has played 20 Tests and 51 ODIs, picking up 57 and 63 wickets respectively.

Bangladesh legend Shakib Al Hasan is at the third spot in this list. The veteran allrounder has been one of the best all-rounders in the world for more than a decade now. He is one of Bangladesh’s most decorated cricketers and has enjoyed a stellar career in international cricket. Shakib has made a big impact with both bat and ball across formats in international cricket.

One of the most experienced cricketers going around, Shakib made his T20I debut way back in 2006 and is still an integral part of the Bangladesh team. So far, he has played 129 T20Is and has picked up 149 wickets with the help of two five-wicket hauls. Shakib has also done well with the bat in T20Is and has scored 2551 runs so far including 13 half-centuries.

Shakib has made a big impact in the other two formats as well. In Tests, he has played 67 games and has picked up 237 wickets in addition to scoring 4505 runs. In ODIs, he has 317 wickets and 7570 runs from 247 games. Overall, Shakib has scored more than 14,000 runs and picked up over 650 wickets in international cricket.

2. Rashid Khan:

Afghanistan superstar Rashid Khan is at the second spot in the list of bowlers with most T20I wickets. Afghanistan have made a meteoric rise in international cricket in recent years and there is little denying that Rashid has played a key role in it. In fact, he has been the poster boy of Afghanistan cricket for quite some time now.

At present, he is also their T20I captain. Rashid has been one of the best T20I bowlers in the world in recent years. He has played 93 T20Is so far and has picked up a stunning 152 wickets at a magnificent average of 14.13. Rashid also has a brilliant economy-rate of just 6.08 in T20Is.

  1. Tim Southee:

While this list is dominated by the spinners, New Zealand fast-bowler Tim Southee is at the top. The right-arm pacer has been playing T20Is since 2008 and has played 126 games so far for the Black Caps. In those 126 games, Southee has picked up an impressive 164 wickets with the help of 2 five-wicket hauls.
